Something Evil (1972)
Director: Steven Spielberg
Starring: Sandy Dennis, Darren McGavin, Ralph Bellamy, Johnny Whitaker
Another outstanding effort from a young Steven Spielberg. A familiar cast, featuring the always awesome Darrin McGavin, become involved with a satanically possessed farmhouse. Wacky hijinks indeed ensue! Spielberg was on fire in his youth and its refreshing to see him take on the occult! This copy was lovingly restored from few sources included adding in original commercials! Godspeed you - whoever you are!!!! We could have sworn Johnny Whitaker was the 'bonk on the head' kid from Star Trek....but apparently that was Michael J Pollard...Apologies to both and we still love Sigmund and the Sea Monster!

I noticed the demon voice add-on too. Still, it's awesome to see this after so long. THe commercials are great, although they appear to have been cobbled together from different sources. Young Marsha Mason is a laundry devoted housewife in one, Joey Heatherton sexes it up for Serta, and the priceless Pristeen Feminine Spray brings us a touching moment between a mother and her daughter. I especially liked the commercial where June Lockhart (in a classy curly bouffant!) happily hawks Shake-n-Bake- crispy but not greasy! I do not know what's up with the Red Goo thing either, I don't recall it but I was 9 years old when I first saw this, and it's probably been at least 30 years since the last time I saw it Great addition to this site!

The voice add-ons are very creepy - I reversed them and it's someone saying "I'll kill you, you will all f*cking die" or something along those lines. The Carpenters song Jambalaya that can be heard over everything else at the party was a bit of a miss as well, since it was released 1 year after the movie. Still, it's a very atmospheric movie. I gave it 3 stars.

This was an excellent addition! I vividly recall seeing this upon its original broadcast in '72. Someone has tinkered a bit with your video data, however. 1. Whenever the demonic attacks occur, there is an additional "demon voice" vocal track added that blots out any other dialogue. 2. When the demonic presence manifests itself at the glowing red pulsation in old jars, a subtitle pops out saying "The Red Goo!" 3. During one of the commercials for a cherry pie mix, the entire vocal track has been eliminated and replace with what sounds like a rant by Orson Welles during a commercial recording. This didn't spoil the movie at all, but very unsettling in a weird way.
